The Dubey Way: Even More "Heads in Beds"

Head shot from City of Richardson. CGI by Adobe Firefly.

July 8, 2024: Despite a City plan for mixed-use development in CityLine, including entertainment uses, Mayor Bob Dubey voted to approve construction of 1,175 more apartments, overriding the City Plan Commission, who rejected the application, saying they wanted to see "more creative retail or entertainment uses," as called for in the plan.

The Richardson Way: Plan the Work, Work the Plan.

I told the Dallas Morning News editorial board that Richardson might as well be nicknamed “Apartment City.” This isn’t just a jab…it’s a wake-up call.

Richardson had the potential to be a standout city. And the truth is, it still does. But to get there, we need bold change, not just surface-level improvements, but a complete overhaul of how our local government operates.

That’s why I’ve proposed a plan I call C.U.R.E. – Clean Up Richardson Ethics. It’s a clear, actionable path to restoring transparency, accountability, and community trust.

The question now is: what comes next?

Richardson is a home rule charter city, which means the power is supposed to rest with the people, not with a small, unelected group pulling strings behind the scenes. Yet for too long, decisions have been shaped by a shadow government while elected officials serve as little more than ceremonial ribbon-cutters.

I met with a concerned citizen and attorney today who strongly supports my candidacy. They raised a critical issue: the urgent need for a full forensic audit of all city departments to expose waste, restore transparency, and return control to the public.

I assured them and I assure you that if elected, I will make this a top priority, beginning on day one. It’s time to clean house and give Richardson back to its rightful owners: you.
