WAIW: Guess the Neighborhood

Source: Google Maps.

Where Am I Wednesday! (Special Tuesday Edition)

Fifty points to the first person to identify where this photo was taken. Specifically, what is the name of the neighborhood? Before you answer, read on.

You might think "Richardson Heights", but I'm not giving points for the obvious, correct, answer. It's true that the Richardson Heights Neighborhood Association's website includes this intersection in its own map of its neighborhood, but the City of Richardson apparently does not, at least according to a new sign topper the City installed on this intersection, shown below. The sign topper says "Heights," but there is no neighborhood in Richardson by that name. There's "Richardson Heights." There's "Heights Park." There's "Cottonwood Heights." There's "Arapaho Heights." But, no, there's no plain old "Heights."

So what gives? The City certainly knows the importance of branding. It can't plead ignorance. We have Telecom Corridor, the Innovation Quarter (the "Richardson IQ®"), and the Richardson CORE district. Are these new sign toppers in a residential neighborhood an example of the City of Richardson not collaborating with neighborhoods on something as important to a neighborhood as what it calls itself? Dunno. The City doesn't always explain its heavy-handed actions. It doesn't have to. It's the City.
