- 2020-02-10: Parasite's Oscar is deserved, but it's going to set a lot of people up for disappointment. People who now go see it for first time and come away thinking, "OK it's good, but it doesn't live up to the hype." It's rare for any movie to live up to the hype of winning "Best Picture."

- 2020-02-14: Men Without Women: Stories: Collection by magical realism author Haruki Murakami. Only this collection, with one exception, is mostly based in realism. Tales of men and women, men with women, and in a deeper way, the impact on men being without women. B-

- 2020-02-18: Just received an automated call that claimed it was about my non-existent inquiry about forgiveness of my student loan debt. The only good thing about the call is they quickly said I could press 9 to be removed from their call list. If only.

- 2020-02-18: When exiting a car in a driving rainstorm...1) get umbrella ready, 2) open door a crack and poke umbrella up, 3) open umbrella, 4) step out under umbrella, and 5) go back to step 1 and unbuckle seat belt.
- 2020-02-19: Pro-tip to Bill Barr: No one publicly "mulls resigning." Either you do or it's just empty virtue signalling.
- 2020-02-19: To think that when the 2019 World Series opened, I was neutral between Astros and Nats. By the time it was over I wanted Astros to lose. Now I want Astros to lose 2017 World Series too.
- 2020-02-20: Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey (2020): A mobster seeking a missing diamond and others with grievances against Harley Quinn get her in big trouble. Full of violence, mostly cartoonish, it's a silly and fun look at female empowerment. Margot Robbie is a likable antihero. B-
- 2020-02-20: I'll never understand why primary Democrats don't compete with each other over who can best draw distinctions between him or herself and Donald Trump, rather than between him or herself and the Democrat standing next to him or her on the debate stage.
- 2020-02-20: I just received in the mail from the national Republican Party a fundraising appeal marked "2020 Congressional District Census." It's not the census. But "fund-raising appeal disguised as a self-selected survey" might not fool as many people as they want to. Another reason I hate political parties.
- 2020-02-21: Honey Boy (2019): Personal story of Shia LeBeouf from child star to rehab. Raised by a bullying, alcoholic father, the surprise is not that "Otis" ends up a young adult in rehab himself but that he functioned as a child star at all. Powerful, but relentlessly depressing. B-
- 2020-02-21: The man behind the name. Berkner High School is his namesake.
- 2020-02-25: I liked Mike Bloomberg more when he was spending his millions pointing out how bad a president Donald Trump is than when he's spending his millions pointing out how bad a president his Democratic opponents might be.
- 2020-02-27: The Call of the Wild (2020): Disneyfied Jack London, with men less violent, dogs less abused, and wolves not very wild at all. CGI animals show Hollywood doesn't need real animals any more, if only they wouldn't give them human expressions. Still, a good family movie. B-
- 2020-02-27: Elections have consequences. Headline from 2018: "CDC to cut by 80 percent efforts to prevent global disease outbreak."
- 2020-02-28: Year of the Monkey: Memoir by poet, rocker and Renaissance woman Patti Smith. Travels across the country stir reflections and dreams of dead and dying friends and of the recognition of her own passing years. Dreamy, beautiful and haunting. B+
- 2020-02-29: McKinney Lions 67, Mesquite Horn 70. Final in overtime. #txhshoops 2nd round playoffs.
