The autumnal
equinox this year occurred at 3:44 CDT on Sunday, September 22. In Richardson, it was a glorious, warm (not hot), sunny day. These photos were taken in the Spring Creek Nature Area on this first day of autumn.
More photos and a little bittersweet musing after the jump.
Each time I visit this gem of nature, I notice another little whittling away at the edges. I sometimes wander outside the boundaries of the park, still in wilderness, but not on land protected from development. At least one, maybe two, of these photos were taken outside the park itself. Even on some of the park's trails, I notice the old fence that parallels the trails. Even though it's wilderness on both sides of the fence, I realize that the far side is private land subject to development. If you've never visited this park, do so this fall. You never know when
encroaching development will reach a tipping point and be impossible to escape any longer.
