From 2011 11 Concerts |
The Berkner Symphonic Band I has been selected to perform at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago the week of December 14-17, 2011.
After the jump, the singular honor this is.
Being chosen to perform at this convention is a singular honor. The Midwest Clinic is "the most complete gathering for instrumental music presented anywhere in the world." One director whose high school band was chosen to perform said it's "like going to the Super Bowl for concert bands."
The convention "exists for educational purposes only, to raise the standards of music education." There will be over 15,000 attendees from all 50 states and over 30 countries. Performances are given by thirty organizations at all levels: grade school, middle school, high school, college, military, adult, and professional groups.
The Berkner Symphonic Band I was chosen to perform a musical piece commissioned expressly for The Midwest Clinic. Berkner will be performing the piece's world premiere in the prime time slot in The Midwest Clinic's concert program.
Before leaving for Chicago, the Berkner Symphonic Band I will present a "Send-Off Concert" at 2:30 pm on December 11, 2011 at the Richardson High School Auditorium (note, that's Richardson HS, not Berkner HS). This concert is open to the whole community. Please consider attending. You won't be disappointed. These musicians are amazing!
