What you might not be aware of is a related change to a program that started up with such fanfare just a year ago. After the jump, what's up with all those stressed trees in our roadway medians?
Richardson's "Tree the Town" program is taking a rain check. Or a no-rain check, if you will.
Exciting planning meet w/ Pres of @Texas_Trees re:Tree N Tx & Tree the Town. Richardson plantings resume once water restrictions relax.Source: @amiromar.
"Tree North Texas," on the other hand, is apparently playing on despite the drought.
If anyone knows of any communication channel other than Twitter being used by these programs, please let me know. I can't find any hint of how the drought is affecting their plans from reading their websites. Both include a section on news articles and press releases, but that's not helpful. There are still lots of trees to plant! It's a beautiful day so come meet us at Lipscomb Elementary in East Dallas.Source: @Texas_Trees.
The city has updated the "Tree the Town" website to reflect the holding pattern we are in due to the drought. You can find the update here.
