Berkner had to be at their best against the tough competition. Four schools advanced from from the 22 schools competing at the Area level competition. Berkner finished fourth. Ahead of them were Duncanville, Coppell and Rowlett. All four schools were great. Richardson HS and Lake Highlands HS also made the area finals. It was good to see all the RISD schools make area finals. (JJ Pearce HS is a Class 4A school so wasn't competing this year.)
Ellen and Mark were at area finals, just enjoying ourselves as spectators, although we did have the important responsibilities of holding the Berkner banner and leading the parents' section in the "Blow My Face Off" cheer!

Berkner High School finished 9th in the Texas UIL Marching Band 5A State Finals November 7, 2006.
Berkner High School made a return trip San Antonio on November 4, 2008 for the Texas UIL Marching Band 5A State Prelims, where they finished 11th, just missing an evening Finals performance by one slot.
