The NanoJapan Program starts with a three week orientation in Tokyo, consisting of courses in nanotechnology, Japan's role in the global economy, and Japanese language and culture. The orientation is followed by a seven week assignment at a Japanese research laboratory conducting hands-on nanotechnology research. The summer program concludes with a one-week nanotechnology-oriented symposium back at Rice University in Houston.
